About True North Governance, LLC
Working With You to Turn Organizational Intent Into Staff-Level Clarity
True North Governance helps small businesses and Alaska Native Corporations build the internal systems their teams actually need — practical policies, step-by-step SOPs, and plain-language desk guides that make complex federal requirements manageable at every level of your organization.
Meet Greg Hellesto — 40+ Years of Making Organizations Run
Greg Hellesto brings 48 years of experience across two demanding arenas — 21 years in the United States Air Force, including squadron command and logistics operations across Alaska, Hawaii, Panama, and the continental U.S., followed by 27 years in senior leadership roles across multiple federal contracting companies.
In every role, his signature contribution was the same: building the documented policies, procedures, and operational guides that allowed organizations to perform consistently and hold up under federal scrutiny — whether that meant developing compliance systems for a new subsidiary, bringing documentation order to a challenged program, or writing the procedures that governed a workforce of 500 or more.
Today he brings that same discipline directly to small business owners and ANC leadership teams. Most know their business inside and out. What they often lack are the documented systems that let it run without everything depending on one person. Greg works directly with owners and their teams to develop practical, plain-language policies, SOPs, and operational guides — built to be used, not shelved.
How True North Governance Came to Be
True North Governance (TNG) was built on a simple observation: most small businesses and ANCs doing serious work in the federal space are run by people who are experts at what they do — but often lack the documented systems that let their organizations scale, stay compliant, and run consistently without everything depending on one person. TNG exists to close that gap. Starting from deep roots in Alaska Native Corporation and Tribal entity operations, we've developed a focused practice around turning leadership intent into the written, usable, day-to-day guidance that staff actually need to do their jobs well.
Built in the Field
Our practice was shaped by real operational environments — ANC subsidiaries, federal facilities, and contracting organizations where the cost of unclear processes shows up fast.
Audit-Ready by Design
Every policy and SOP I build is written to hold up under scrutiny — because we've sat across the table from federal auditors and know exactly what they're looking for.
I don't write documents for binders. I translate regulatory requirements into instructions your staff will actually read, follow, and rely on.
Plain Language. Real Use
Rooted in the Organizations I Serve
I understand that small businesses and ANCs aren't just contractors — they carry community obligations. Our systems are built to support that mission, not complicate it.
How I Think About This Work
Good operational systems shouldn't slow an organization down — they should give it the structure to move faster and with more confidence. At True North Governance, I believe that clear internal processes give organizations the foundation to run consistently and hold up under scrutiny. I build practical systems, not theoretical frameworks. Every policy we write, every SOP we develop, and every desk guide we produce is designed to be picked up and used — by real people, doing real work, in organizations where getting it right actually matters.
